Visit the Leffe Brewery
Leffe is Belgian abbey beer that has many various strengths and tastes in its assortment. Most English supermarkets now stock this popular Belgian beer in its most common form, a blond or
brown ale with a typical alcohol percentage of 6-7%, but be careful while drinking Belgian beer as it often leaves you with a stronger hangover then the English equivalent. Drink Belgian beer responsibly! Other Leffe beers available on the market, but not always easily found in the local English supermarket are triple (a heavier beer with an alcohol percentage of 8.5%), Radieuse (a stronger beer with an alcohol percentage of 8.2%) and Leffe 9⁰ (a strong blond beer with an alcohol percentage of 9%).
If you like the Leffe, then why not go on a Belgium holiday and visit the abbey?
The Leffe abbey was originally a nunnery, but changed in 1200 into an abbey. The current buildings on the Leffe abbey-site date back to the 17th and 18th century.
The visit in the Leffe museum, opposite to the Leffe abbey, will explain you about the origins of the beer, it will show you how the beer is traditionally produced and most importantly it will let you taste the golden nectar.
Although the guided tour only last about 1 hour, it is very educational and it makes you think twice about the effort and craftsmanship put in this beer in order to create in many peoples opinion one of the best Belgian beers!
